Really Like This Quote About Dogs - April 25, 2010

John Grogan: A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?

In Remembrance of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett - June 25, 2009

Hello. Two legends passed away today. Two beautiful people who have inspired millions upon millions of music lovers and volunteers. Too early, too soon.

I grew up watching Michael Jackson dance, sing and just entertain. The man was amazing! I had the glove and the mic, and recently I got to pretend I was him at one of my school's talent shows. His life had plenty of bumpy roads and legal troubles, but he was a humanitarian and a music legend.

I wasn't around for much of his time with the Jackson 5, however, after watching the "Jacksons: An American Dream" many times on VH1, I grew to love all the Jackson 5's songs. Most especially, "ABC", "I Want You Back", "Ben", and "Dancin' Machine", to name a few. Some of my favorite songs when he left the group are "Thriller", "Beat It" and "Dance and Shout" (which I performed on the DVD audition I sent to "America's Got Talent"). You may know this, but there are so many songs that use these songs as samples on their music. Just simple things like his, "Hee-Hee" voice...sampled.

Farrah Fawcett. Although I was not old enough to grow up and watch this beautiful woman entertain on her many television appearances including the original "Charlie's Angels", what I will remember from her, unfortunately, is watching what she went through at the end of her life unfold on the television screen.

While putting together JoeyDCares.org Presents: HOPE. A Benefit Concert for the American Cancer Society, there were plenty of times when I wasn't sure if what I was doing mattered. If I should just tell everyone, it is too hard, it is too big, and I need to cancel. The night I saw Farrah on t.v. gave me a reason to go on. To keep up the fight. ...And, in Michael Jackson's words, "Heal The World".

I owe both of these wonderful people my gratitude for their inspiration, devotion to change the world, and their love for it.

Christine Helwig's 21st Birthday Party - January 24, 2009

JoeyDCares.org played for Christine's 21st Birthday Party as a way to raise monetary donations through tips.

It was a great time had by all! This was a simple way to volunteer for JoeyDCares.org. If you have an event you would like music for and would allow me to collect donations, we all win!

Happy Birthday To Me!! - June 8, 2008

Today is my Birthday!! I already received some texts, phone calls, and a nice card from my parents. I have a wedding to go to today. So now every time I have a Birthday, someone I know will have a wedding anniversary!

I think I will probably celebrate my Birthday with friends sometime later in the week, but right now its family time. I can't believe I am 29, hopefully good things will come this year! ...Joey

School is Finishing Up - June 7, 2008

Two more days and school will be over. I really will miss all of my kids (students) at school. A lot of teachers look forward to the summer but I really don't. At least not because we have a break from teaching. The kids keep me so busy...they are so funny, and really just make my day so much better. So I am not looking forward to being bored for 3 months, but I do look forward to taking a break.
By the way, my Birthday is tomorrow! I will be 29...ouch, one more year and the big 3-0! I got a cake from school yesturday, and I loved reading all of the little signatures from the kids in my year book!
