Biography
Joey Dundore (Joey D.)
Joey Dundore (Joey D.) is a graduate from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a Masters in the Art of Teaching – Music, and the acclaimed Berklee College of Music, with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Professional Music, Magna Cum Laude. Main concentrated areas of study were composition and saxophone, flute, and clarinet performance. He has studied under the instruction of Fred Lipsius (Blood, Sweat and Tears), Dino Govoni, Shannon LeClaire, NYC Jazz innovator George Garzone, Boston Symphony Flautist Wendy Rolfe, and Lancaster's own Dave Wilson and Tom Strohman.
In addition to his education, Joey D. has extensive volunteering experience, including sole director of a Benefit Concert in 2002, which raised Money for The Victims of September 11th Tragedies selling self produced and written music, CDs, T-shirts, Posters, and Video Tapes. Proceeds went to the Women and Children of NYC Firefighters Fund. His first big event for his non-profit JoeyDCares, entitled, JoeyDCares.org Presents: HOPE. A Benefit Concert for the American Cancer Society, took place on June 5th, 2009, and was a huge success!
His performance experience includes auditioning for the NBC show, "America's Got Talent!" in 2008, in which he received an all expense paid trip to Las Vegas to participate in the show, and appeared in local newspapers (visit JoeyDundore.com for more). He was featured in a television interview with FOX45 news for performing at the Canton, MD Wine and Jazz Festival in 2009. In June of 2009, he was the winner of the Ephrata Performing Arts Center's Got Talent and received $1,000 cash and two round trip tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S.!
Supplemental performance experience includes a tour of Europe with American Music Abroad, visiting France, Belgium, Germany and Austria. He seated 1st Chair Alto Saxophone and had his own solo song, the first time in the tour's history. He participated extensively with the Dave Wilson Trio, Dave Wilson's Young Sounds, the Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz Youth Band (as opening act for Ramsey Lewis from Earth, Wind and Fire), the Erin Walker Trio, the Bainbridge Band, and groups of his own. His theatre experience includes performing in the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater's production of "Grease", and the Ephrata Performing Arts Center's production of "Annie Get Your Gun".
Mr. Dundore has taught individual instruction for the past 14 years, 7 of which were full time. During this time he has taught advanced saxophone, flute, clarinet, and beginner percussion, trumpet and piano.
For the past 5 years Mr. Dundore has been teaching in the Carroll County Public School system in various functions. He has taught special needs students, children with disabilities ages 3-21, and students who belong to the PRIDE Program K-5 (children with emotional/behavioral disabilities). He has also taught middle school general music, concert band, orchestra and jazz band. He has been nominated as one of Carroll County’s Outstanding teachers twice.
